FNC Spotlight: One Man, Many Gifts — Meet Doctor

Singer, keyboardist, saxophonist, a teacher – have you ever met Jack of all trades, master of all? Doctor Bukunmi Omiwole, popularly called Doctor, is one of the few (if any even exist, apart from him).

From Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria, to Texas, USA — like the Levite musicians who carried their instruments from the wilderness all the way to the temple of Solomon, Doctor has carried his sound faithfully from one land to another.

RCCG FNC Spotlight is here, and Doctor is our very first guest. This new series puts a face and a story to the familiar brethren you see every Sunday service, Monday fellowship, and Wednesday Bible Study.

Doctor opened up about things most people in the church would never have guessed just from seeing him on the mic teaching Sunday school or leading worship. His road to RCCG FNC, his FNC buddy, his favourite meal, the most overrated food on the planet, his favourite Bible character, and the one superpower he would love to have.

So pull up a chair, grab your popcorn, and get ready to meet the Doctor you never knew.

Searched for RCCG Church near me, called the pastor line. Few hours later, I saw him and the wife at my doorstep.

Your journey into the church, how you discovered it, and how long you have been in the church?

I had just arrived in Fort Worth as an international student from Nigeria, and I was looking for familiar faces to connect with and to help settle in.

Friends in the country had spoken so well of RCCG churches being very accommodating. I checked for a nearby RCCG on the internet and found the pastor’s number.

I saw him and his wife at my door a few hours later. The rest, as they say, is history. It’s been 5 years and counting.

Your journey so far in the church, how’s it been?

I believe God ordered my steps here, and He’s confirmed it multiple times. I have grown in the knowledge of God’s word, in prayer, in service, and in the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Which Bible Character best describes you? Who is your favorite Bible character & your favorite Bible event?

I have actually fit into different characters for different seasons of my life. Sometime in 2025, I could relate more to Joseph. I currently relate best to Daniel.

My favorite Bible event is the resurrection of Jesus from the grave. I love that He did not return to the grave!

If there’s any Bible event you would like to see in this present age, which one would it be, and why?

It’s the event in Acts 8:4-8 when Philip preached Christ in Samaria, and there was evidence of what he preached. More importantly, there was great joy in the city, as God worked through one yielded man.

It is a challenge to me that, as someone filled with all the fullness of God, there should be joy in my city because of my presence. And this holds for every believer in Christ.

Your favorite Bible verse and why?

There are many of them, but the one that comes to heart now is 1John 5:14-15.

It speaks about the assurance that God hears and He answers every time I pray according to His will. One sure way to pray according to His will is to pray in the Spirit.

You have an open ticket to ask for one thing and one super power, what would they be and why?

For every sick person I encounter or am around, to be made whole instantly.

First, God has supplied what is needed for this. Second, I hate seeing people weak or devoid of peak health.
